How do I sign up for a class?
You can sign up for a class by following a few easy steps. First, visit our Projects page and select the piece that you would like to create. Next, visit our Book a Class page and choose the night where that project is offered. Finally, book your ticket; during this step you will also be able to provide us with any customization detail such as a name, established date, etc.
Why do I have to select a project before attending a class?
We cut, sand and prepare the wood, as well as spend a significant amount of time preparing each custom stencils for each individual project, including design time on the computer, cutting them out, weeding (peeling) them, and setting them for you to use during the workshop. As a result, we need an appropriate amount of time to complete this process before you come into the studio.
What parts of the project will I complete, and what will already be done?
Prior to the start of each class, all materials that are needed for that class are prepared including but not limited to wood, stencils, stain, paint, screws, brushes, etc. But alas, this is DIY (Do-It-Yourself) – not DIFM (Do-It-For-Me) – so nothing is pre-done for you! When you attend a class, you will select your own wood, distress and stain the wood, assemble the boards using a nailgun, and apply and paint your custom stencil.
Are there any risks involved with taking a class?
This is real woodworking! Drills, hammers, mallets, nails, sand paper, paint and oil-based stains are used during the workshop, so precautions need to be taken. Minor scratches, chipped nails, and smashed thumbs have occurred. First Aid is available for minor injuries. However, if you have a concern for the possibility of experiencing injuries or health issues, please call ahead of time to discuss your concerns with us and we can determine if the workshop is right for you.
How long does a workshop last?
We schedule workshops to last 3 hours. However, each person works at their own pace, which may be quicker or slower. Sometimes our workshops are finished earlier than 3 hours and sometimes when our guests are having fun and visiting, it may be a little longer.
When should I arrive for the workshop?
We suggest that you arrive about 10 minutes before the scheduled time for your class to allow for time to get situated with seating, and prepare and serve snacks and beverages.
What if I’m late to the workshop?
Since we provide step-by-step instructions on how to distress, age, and assemble your project, we are unable to repeat missed steps once that part of the class has passed. Workshops will begin no later than 10 minutes after the scheduled start time. We strongly suggest picking a class that you can be sure to arrive on time and enjoy the full Crafted experience!
What if I can’t make it to the class that I paid for, do you offer refunds?
Due to the custom nature of our workshops, registration fees are non-refundable after registration has closed for that class and materials have been prepared. Registration cancellations made within 48 hours of a workshop may Be granted a class credit for a future workshop. Only cancellations made before the 48-hour close-off are subject to refunds. Please call or email us in the event you are unable to attend a class so that we can work with you on scheduling a time to come back and create your project.
What if I want to do a different project than what the class is scheduled for?
Because of the step-by-step instructions we provide and the custom stencils we prepare for each class, you must create the project that is being offered during that specific class.
Can I register for more than one at a time?
Sure! Sometimes, if you want to ensure there are enough seats for you and your friends, it is better to buy them as soon as they are offered so you do not risk a sell out. However, we do not recommend that you attempt to craft two signs at the same time, as it is nearly impossible given the amount of time allotted.
Do I need to be crafty or have experience to take a class?
No! Classes are designed with all levels of experience and inexperience in mind. If at any point you are uncertain with a step, we will guide you one-on-one and ensure that you are comfortable.
Do I need to tell you in advance what colors and stain I want to use?
No. We provide a variety of 13+ stain choices, 25+ paint colors and different painting techniques to appeal to everyone’s individual design style. We also have examples of different stains and color combinations to help you decide what will look the best for your project.
Do I need to bring anything to the workshop?
Nope! We will provide all of the materials and tools you need to create your one-of-a-kind piece. While we do offer a wide variety of 18 stain colors, 36 paint colors, and different painting techniques, if there is a specific paint color you would like to use, feel free to bring it with you. (Note: must be latex, not acrylic, paint)
Can I bring food/beverage?
Absolutely. Whatever you would like to bring to snack on or drink during your time here is okay with us! And no, it doesn’t have to be alcoholic. However, we do recommend that snacks be small finger foods and not full meals as this is a hands-on experience.
Do you serve alcohol?
No. We are a Bring Your Own Beverage (BYOB) establishment. We will provide cups, corkscrews, bottle openers and water, but we do not serve alcohol. According to state law, you must be 21 years of age or older to consume alcoholic beverages of any kind. Proof of minimum age must be provided.
Do I have to have a PayPal account to purchase a ticket?
No. You can purchase your ticket without logging into a PayPal account. Once you are on the PayPal screen, you can pay with your PayPal account or click “PAY WITH DEBIT OR CREDIT CARD”. PayPal is a secure website which is why we use their site as a gateway to process payments.
I tried to book a class but wasn’t able to. Why is that?
If you are trying to book a class within 48 hours of the class date, registration has closed. We cut, sand and prepare the wood, as well as prepare the custom stencils for each individual project, which includes significant computer time designing and fitting the design to the size and shape of the wood craft, cutting out the stencil, weeding (peeling) the stencil, and setting them for your use during the workshop. As a result, we need an appropriate amount of time between other scheduled workshops (that require the same attention) to complete this process.
Occasionally, we are able to squeeze someone into a class last minute, but that largely depends on the amount of available time between other scheduled workshops, the complexity of the design selected, as well as the number of people already signed up for the class. If you have missed the deadline to register for a workshop, please contact us to find out if we are able to add you into a class after it has closed. In the event we are able to include you into the workshop, please note that late/rush fee of $10 will be assessed.
I cannot find a babysitter, can I bring my child with me?
We welcome Crafters of all ages (8 and up), however please keep in mind that there likely will be other adults attending the class who may be spending their night away from their kids and/or could be consuming alcohol. We leave it up to each adult to decide what is an appropriate atmosphere for their children.
Can I order a completed piece without doing the workshop?
Absolutely! Please use the below link to navigate to our Custom Orders page to provide us the details on what you would like. From here, we will send you an invoice for the project and once that is paid, we will get to work on your custom piece. If you have any additional questions regarding Custom Orders, please contact us at (469) 888-4267 or at firstname.lastname@example.org.
